House MD, if you've missed the last six years, is a show with a laughable premise to it if you're paying attention. An incredibly intelligent doctor with drug issues (read: he can't find enough to take at any given point in time, which is impressive, considering he works in a hospital), makes a long line of wrong decisions about helping a critically Ill patient until he and his team happen upon the right answer and save the day. In between this, to break up the monotony of that, House acts like a complete dick to everyone around him, and they hate him for it appropriately. They put up with him because he always ends up being right and saving the patient. Like many shows, this format DOES NOT CHANGE. Studios hate change, it threatens their bottom line. Experimenting means an audience may not adjust and move away from the show. Stagnation is the better option because people are good at following routines and unless people really hate a thing they won't deviate. So, no, House MD isn't good because of it's format. In fact, the show is horrible for it, as though I hadn't gotten that across already. House MD is a great show despite this giant bruise. On deep inspection, the show is a character piece pretending to be a medical mystery/comedy drama. A... Medmycomdram... Homework - watch a movie called Two Lane Blacktop. Again, character piece hiding as another kind of film. Don't watch the Film for the story. You'll leave disappointed and angry. Character pieces, as I have to explain because no one overtly does them anymore (they cost money and are intelligent). Anyway, i'm boring you to tell you that there are six good years of a show that you may have missed. And to plug a good film that no one has ever heard of. Posted via LiveJournal.app. |
